Val Pascale’s Apple Crumb Pie
I make this classic pie every holiday, including my birthday. It’s a crowd pleaser with everyone, especially my dad who can eat an entire one in a single night. I strongly recommend making this pie for the next holiday, it won’t disappoint.

Makes: 1 Pie
Serving: ⅛ of Pie
Ingredients:
1 9-inch crust
Crumb Topping:
3 tablespoons butter
½ cup flour
½ cup brown sugar
Filling:
2 tablespoons butter
½ cup white sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
6 Apples, peeled & diced(Preferably granny smith and Honeycrisp)
½ teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon (or more to taste)
⅛ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
2 teaspoon lemon juice
3 tablespoon flour
Directions :
- Preheat oven to 375 F
- Peel and dice apples, place ¾ of them in a large pan with butter.
- Add cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, vanilla, salt and sugar into the pan.
- Leave simmering on medium-low heat with lid until lots of liquid is seen in bottom of the pan.
- Take off the lid, add rest of apples and 3 tablespoons of flour, simmer until liquid has thickened and take off the heat.
- Make the crumb topping: mix flour, sugar and add melted butter.
- Put Apple filling into 9-inch pie crust, add crumb topping.
- Loosely cover pie with aluminum foil, bake for 25 minutes, then take off foil and bake for another 30 minutes.
- Cool at room temperature before serving.
