It’s that exciting time of the year again for all college football fans as the race for the 2025 college football National Championship is nearing its end. It has been quite an exhilarating season, with many one point game winners – which have left some fans unhappy – and huge upsets.
The highly dedicated teams of The Ohio State and the University of Georgia are two of the projected winners for the championship. Ohio State is a favorite, with analysts projecting them to come out on top, right ahead of Georgia who is poised to take the number two spot. The Ohio State Buckeyes gained this momentum due to their recent and fierce victory over Penn State, cementing their status as a top contender for the championship.
Yet the University of Georgia still remains close to The Ohio State, showing strength both offensively and defensively: their 8-2 overall record is impressive. Oregon and Texas are also strong contenders after their respective performances this season, but upholding this level of play is key to staying in the race.
After asking ten separate HenHud students who they think would be the champions this season, answers were mixed. Four students believed that Oregon would take home the Natty, arguing that Oregon’s offense is “on another level of insane.” Three students believed that Ohio State would be the champions due to their “vast amount of luck.” The remaining three students chose Georgia, who won the championships in the 2023 season.
The reigning champions, the University of Michigan, have a 5-4 record that puts them far from the favorite. However, they could still have a chance of making it if they put forth a well planned defense for their upcoming games.
The 2024 season’s new 12-team playoff adds an exciting new dynamic, allowing teams with only a few losses to still compete and allowing the players and coaches to enjoy a very competitive and active postseason. With only a few weeks remaining in the regular season, each of these top prospective teams will be working hard to secure their place in the 12-team playoff, and eventually, with dedication and commitment, win the National Championship.
