MUSIC is PlayBoi Carti’s fourth studio album. During the five year wait between his last album Whole Lotta Red and now an insane amount of hype has been building for this project. After Carti led us on for years with release dates that were untrue and constant fit pics being posted, the album is finally here. At 30 songs and 1 hour and 16 minutes this album has been met with a bit of love, but a lot of criticism too.
One of the best songs off Music is “RATHER LIE”. This is yet another Weeknd and Carti collaboration and just like their other joint tracks this is another banger. Their chemistry is amazing being shown through the weekend’s catchy chorus and Carti’s fantastic flow. This is just another example of a rapper and singer coming together to make amazing music together.
A surprising yet welcome feature on Music is Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick is featured on “M
OJO JOJO” “BACKDOOR” as well as “GOOD CREDIT”. Kendrick delivered great verses on both “BACKDOOR” and “GOOD CREDIT” though his ad-libs on “MOJO JOJO” were somewhat out of place. The vibes of his ad libs didn’t match the energy of carti’s verse.
Another collab song between Carti, Young Thug, and Ty Dolla $ign is “WE NEED ALL DA VIBES.” This large collaboration is very energetic and delivers great verses from each of the artists. Ty Dolla $ign and Thug had an especially catchy chorus that is complimented by Carti’s performance
Overall MUSIC is a very full album with many highs but a few too many lows. Many fans expected better from Carti and this 30 track long LP did not live up to their expectations. With such a long time he delivered an over bloated album with too many misses and not enough hits.
