Mrs. Morabito is the orchestra instructor at Hendrick Hudson Hudson School. She has been teaching music for over 15 years, and has been at Hen Hud since 2016. Mrs. Morabito brings her experience to the classroom, using it to help the high school students to learn how to play music.
Morabito fell in love with music, specifically the violin, in 5th grade, after attending an All-County music festival. Her experience in school as a musician was a positive one, as she states, “I was fortunate to have excellent music teachers that really inspired me to become a more serious musician.” Once Morabito decided that violin was her passion, she spent a good amount of her time practicing to reach her goals. She also spent time playing in numerous ensembles outside of school.
As for her love of teaching, that started in high school for Mrs.Morabito. As a student, she spent some time teaching private lessons. She describes her time teaching private lessons as a “truly gratifying experience.” This, she says, is what made her decide to pursue a career in music education. She attended SUNY Fredonia and received an undergraduate degree, majoring in Music Education. She then went on to get a Master’s degree in Music Education at Queens College.
Mrs. Morabito’s favorite thing about teaching is the students. She explains, “Experiencing this with students is truly rewarding.” She enjoys the feeling of creating music every day, and the personal connections with students and watching them grow musically is very important to her.
Outside of the classroom, Mrs.Morabito enjoys spending time with her family. She also enjoys running, and exercising outdoors. Her favorite composer is Dvořák, and she enjoys his New World Symphony and American Quartet. She also likes Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings.
Overall, Mrs. Morabito has been an influential teacher at Hendrick Hudson High School, inspiring students both musically, and personally.
