It’s a classic East Coast-West Coast battle as the Los Angeles Dodgers vs New York Yankees are set to play in the World Series. After 20 days of teams getting eliminated and advanced to the next rounds, we finally have our World Series matchup. It has been a long, suspenseful postseason, from 12 teams starting to our final two teams competing for the top spot.
The Yankees, a hardworking team that hasn’t been to the World Series since 2009, finally can get a sigh of relief after beating the Kansas City Royals 3-1. They advanced, going on to then beat the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Championship Series 4-1. Players like Juan Soto (their star outfielder), Gleyber Torres (2nd baseman), and Giancarlo Stanton (designated hitter) led the charge in the Yankees offense to win against Cleveland and Kansas City.
The Dodgers, a team full of superstars, look to win a World Series after winning the shortened season in 2020. A team with a stacked lineup that houses three MVPs (Most Valuable Players) and a great pitching staff, they are positioned to win the World Series more than ever. Their three MVPs in question include Shohei Ohtani (pitcher/hitter), Freddie Freeman (first baseman), and Mookie Betts (outfielder). After defeating the San Diego Padres 3-2, and defeating the New York Mets 4-2, they can celebrate knowing that they’re in the World Series.
The Yankees and the Dodgers have faced each other a total of 11 times with this as their 12th matchup that starts on October 25, 2024 8:08 PM EST. The Yankees have taken the higher edge, with a record of eight wins and three losses in the 11 times they met. The Yankees have the stronger record so far, but still the Dodgers are the favored team to win it all. However as history has shown, baseball isn’t always predictable and anything can happen, especially in the World Series.
