Hen Hud Pep Band Plays Music for a Cause
Music is a symbol of bringing people together and their values based on the experiences they share. The Hendrick Hudson Pep Band shared some of their music on Saturday, October 22 at the “Light the Night Walk” event sponsored by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at Rye Playland Park. The night was filled with fun, entertainment, and fireworks.
The boardwalk was illuminated by different colored balloons carried by walkers, bringing light to the darkness of cancer. WHITE for cancer survivors, RED for supporters, and GOLD in memory of those who lost their lives to the disease.
According to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, an estimated 54,025 children and adolescents younger than 20 in the United States are living with or in remission from leukemia (cancer of the blood), lymphoma (cancer of the lymph nodes), and myeloma (cancer of the bone marrow).
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is a global leader in the fight against cancer. Its mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The event raised $486,265 for lifesaving blood cancer research around the world.
The Hendrick Hudson Pep Band is proud to be instrumental to the success of this fundraising event.
